A reference set needs a creative hierarchy.
Decide which input explains the product, which demonstrates movement and which supplies audio direction. Label those roles clearly rather than treating all media as interchangeable inspiration.
Choose frame mode when the opening and final composition define the task. Choose reference-media mode when a set of permitted inputs guides the scene. The two modes cannot be mixed, and an audio-only reference set is rejected for this 2.0 route.

Do I need all nine image slots?
No. Nine is a maximum. A small, coherent set is easier to brief and review than contradictory references.
Can I add a final frame to my reference-video set?
No. First/last-frame mode and multimodal reference mode must remain separate.
